“When I paint, I feel free!” Alfred Mavers
Alfred Mavers was my great uncle, an artist who lived in Lehrte, Germany from 1903-1982. During his life Alfred created thousands of paintings and after his death many of these works of art were inherited by my uncle Uwe Mavers (Germany) and my father Horst Mavers (Canada). After the death of my father in 2016, the paintings came to me. Through this website, I want to share Alfred’s vision and art with those who are interested.

Hi Steve
Thank you for starting this website! I have spent a long time trying to figure out who the artist was of a black & white sketch I have. Now I know it is by your great uncle. I sent you an email earlier today. It is a sketch done in 1957.

Hi Rosie,
Thanks for contacting me – I’m glad that the website was helpful – I would very very interested to know more about your drawing and/or to see a photo of it? Is there a story?
All the best,
Steve
