Flowers are a prominent motif in many of Alfred’s paintings. This is not surprising considering that his Uncle Christel owned a greenhouse business. Horticulture has been in the Mavers family for many years and generations. My own father, Horst Mavers (one of Alfred’s nephews) worked in greenhouses in Germany, Denmark, Norway and finally England in the 1950s. Horst’s mother, Charlotte was a florist and his father (Alfred’s brother) was responsible for the landscape in a large cemetery in Bochum, Germany. Here is a selection of Alfred’s Blooms.
